The WGA rejected the deal. Talks will resume on Monday.

OK, after mourning all of yesterday, awesome, concrete news:
Please read the article since there is some awesome news below.
Per TVGuide:
WGA Ponders Offer from Producers; Talks Resume Tuesday
Please read the article since there is some awesome news below.
Per TVGuide:
The Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers on Thursday presented a "New Economic Partnership" to the WGA, which according to a statement from the AMPTP "includes groundbreaking moves in several areas of new media, including streaming, content made for new media and programming delivered over digital broadcast channels." Dollars- and cents-wise, the AMPTP says, "The entire value of the [deal] will deliver more than $130 million in additional compensation above and beyond the more than $1.3 billion writers already receive each year."
The WGA has asked for time to study the proposals, and talks are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, December 4.
Says the AMPTP, "We continue to believe that there is common ground to be found between the two sides, and that our proposal for a New Economic Partnership offers the best chance to find it."
Crosses Fingers,
--Luis A.
P.S. (Eliot): After pigging out last Thursday, I thought I would gain 3 lbs, which I probably did. However, after walking like a maniac, or Forrest Gump, I lost whatever weight I had gained. While I didn't lose any weight, I didn't gain any, either!!

TV Eulogy
(I really didn't want to do something like this but it's my blog and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I...)
OK, since there will be no specific day when all the shows run out of episodes if the strike lasts for far too long, this is the last day of all new episodes.
This is the end of November sweeps period. Although some shows have run out of episodes, The Office and Big Bang Theory (pleasant surprise of the season), most shows have continued airing new episodes. However, since few shows will air past this day, the remaining new episodes of the shows I watch will be sprinkled from here until they peter out into a sad, an inconclusive end to the season.
I was really looking forward to the next year. American Idol along with 24, Lost and Scrubs, too. Since I am a dork, and love my TV, I had this great last half of the season to the last semester in college planned out. I was planning on watching the premiere of Survivor, Lost, and Scrubs on the same night. Now most of this is lost and the sad reality of it, marked ever so clearly by the end of the November sweeps period, is hitting me. I won't eulogize something that is on the surface so trivial and superficial any longer because I don't want to sound like a bigger dork than I am. However, to put this in context, it would be the equivalent of having your team, say the Vikings, 12-0, then have the season abruptly taken away from you.

Sigh,

The Big O
No, I am not talking about Oscar Robertson. I am talking about the other Big O; the even bigger O.
Here is something that will blow your mind:
Per Hollywood Reporter:
Christmas is coming, the golden goose is getting fat.
Plenty of holiday shoppers have music on their lists as Thanksgiving week's 11 best-selling albums top the 100,000-unit mark and a holiday collection leads the Billboard 200 for the first time in 13 years.
Popera king Josh Groban's "Noel" reaches the summit in its seventh chart week thanks to a welcome boost from a celebrated wish-granter. The album moved more than 400,000 units for the frame ending Nov. 25, an 81% increase fueled by his surprise visit to "The Oprah Winfrey Show." It marks Groban's best sales week ever.
"Noel" is the first Christmas album to reach the summit since Kenny G's "Miracles" in 1994. That instrumental collection has gone on to sell more than 8 million copies."
OK, if you already knew this, well forgive me since I don't work at Hollywood Reporter. Give me a break.

Sports community in mourning...
The sports community is in mourning today. The Celtics lost their second game today against the Cavaliers in overtime. It's truly unimaginable to think that the Celtics would have gone 82 in the beginning of the season, or 81-1 after they lost their first game, but it is still surprising that they lost. The good news for Celtics fans, including myself, is that they have lost against two very good teams, the Cavaliers and the Magic. What's even better is that those losses where close ones and they were away from Boston.
Oh yeah, also a football player lost his life yesterday.
Go Celts!

Let's talk...
Well, since this is a potentially big week for the strike, expect a lot of blogs about it. My apologies.
Having said that, well better to come from the horse's mouth than anyone else:
Per TVGuide: "Will the strike negotiators be home for Christmas? A "very reliable source" tells Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood Daily blog that there appears to be a deal in place between both sides. "It's already done, basically," says the insider, crediting weeks' worth of back channel note-sharing conducted by Hollywood agents. "I was told not to expect an agreement this week," says Finke, "but my source thought it was possible that the strike could be settled before Christmas."In other words, maybe, just maybe, TV viewers won't be handed a big lump of coal as this holiday season — at which time the fresh scripted offerings will really start to dry up — rolls around. "I don't want to raise false hope," Finke adds. "But this source has been very accurate in the past."
If she hadn't said, "I don't want to raise false hope," it would have been great news. It's something, definitely.
More to come,

Quick Hits and Minor Rant
OK, tomorrow is "doomsday". The strike talks will resume for the first time since the strike started. Let's just hope for the best since I don't want to be stuck with crappy reality shows in my last semester of college.
I will be taking a trip in December that I am not looking forward to as much as I would like. Not that I am not looking forward to going back home. Not at all. Instead, there is just so much shit that will happen or might not happen from here to then. The uncertainty of this is what has me not looking to the time the trip will be taken. Its not so much the trip that is bothering but instead that part of the year since all the crap that will take place.
Oh well.
To conclude the start of this week on a somewhat lighter note, what the hell is up with the Oscar contenders. I am quite positive that there are some great movies in this year, it's just that none of the major ones have been released. In previous years, Oscar contenders were spread out throughout the year. I mean, a mere seven years ago, American Beauty was released in August! Can you imagine a movie that good being released in August? I want to go to the movies, but I refuse to go to the movies when my choices are limited to Enchanted (fine movie, not for me) and Lions for Lambs. Spread the wealth, Hollywood! What's worse, it's not like if the good movies will be released wide in December. Instead, they will be released in a handful of theaters to be eligible for the Oscars but will not expand until the early year, if at all. I guess the Golden Compass and I Am Legend will have to fill the void.
By the way, here is my list of movies that WILL get nominated for Best Picture:
Hairspray
Michael Clayton
American Gangster
That's it,

Boo-hoo
So much for the Lakers becoming a good team again. They lost against the Celtics today, which is cool, and against the Bucks on Wednesday, which is not fine. Whatever. Kobe just leave and end our misery already so we can move on.
Sigh
Also, I had given myself permission to eat on Thanksgiving day considering that it was Thanksgiving day and that I had lost 30 lbs over the last 2 and a half months. Well that's fine. The only problem was/is that I figured that once I started eating I wouldn't be able to stop. Well, things were going fine today and then all of a sudden I remembered that there was cheesecake and my fat(ter) old self came rushing back and I had a slice (regular) of a cheesecake.
Since I weigh myself every week, typically on a Thursday, and I expect to gain/at least not lose weigh this week, I figure why not eat another slice since I'm more than likely not losing weigh this week anyways. That's true and all but I have to start again. The good thing is that I don't feel like if the diet has stopped since all I really have done "wrong" was have two slices of cheesecake combined, one yesterday and one today. I fully expect to "recover" by tomorrow. The good thing is that I walked like 3:30 hours today.
Sigh,

For all those haters...
I've heard that Alicia Keys and Norah Jones were one album wonders.
Maybe this will shut those haters up:
Billboard: "Alicia Keys storms The Billboard 200 this week with "As I Am" (J), which debuts at No. 1 after selling 742,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's the best sales week for a solo female artist since Norah Jones' "Feels Like Home" shifted 1 million copies in 2004."
All those haters can now go fuck themselves

Champions of the World!
Well, not quite. Before I start, let me say that there will be no swagger whatsoever in my blog entry.
OK, I heard something insane the other day about the Lakers: for the first time since Shaq left, this is the first time that the supposed starting five has not been injured! Previously, either Odom or someone else would be injured. Yeah, the team is nowhere near as good as, say, the Mavericks, but they do have a good squad. Finally, the team is up to a good start, 7-3 (crushing Indiana as I post this). More importantly, they've been some good team, including title contenders Pistons and Rockets. All I'm saying, I'm glad my team is producing this team since it was getting pathetic.
I know, lame post, but eh.
Who do you think will be kicked out tomorrow on AI?

Two Girls, One Cup...Update
Even though I felt ill, in my stomach and in my soul, after I had watched what is by far the most disgusting thing I had seen in my life, for some odd reason I wanted to see it again. There is simply no good reason for this; I mean I was grossed out the first time, so why go back?
I did.
Three things:
First, I was convinced that these women were not really doing what I thought they had done. I thought, "you know what, the shit looks like peanut butter. Also, when that woman vomits into the mouth of the other, it looks too fake." Well, it is very much a real thing, especially the vomit. You clearly see the liquid brown shit powerfully ejecting out of her mouth. Which leads me to my second point.
This is still really disgusting. I dare anyone to see this and not feel ill. However, which leads me to my third point.
This is where it gets interesting: what does it say about me that I was not nearly ass grossed out by people licking shit, eating it, and vomiting into each others mouth? I thought, you know what, this is not that bad. I can imagine far worse things.
Don't get me wrong, it is still gross. But, you know what, people are into different things. Ni modo.
Have a great week!

Two Girls, One Cup
OK, I am no prude. Please, I like old men. In fact, I have no objection with possibly sleeping with a 70 year old if he's hot. However, there is this video that you guys might know about but that I didn't know about. I've heard about it but never bothered checking it out. Then I heard Best Week's Ever Frangela talking about it. I looked for it on Youtube and all I saw was a bunch of videos titled, "Reaction to Twogirlsonecup". I thought it was people acting horribly to something they weren't really watching. I thought it was a game to see who can act grossed out the most. Then I googled two girls one cup. Then I checked it out.
Big mistake.
The video is very much real. It is by far (no hyperbole in this statement) the grossest thing I have ever seen in my life. I can't imagine anyone watching this video and not feeling sick to their stomach. In fact, if I hated someone so much, I would tie them down to a chair and make them watch this video on a loop. Actually, anyone interested in doing this, ask people to see this online. This has to be the direct result of people try to one-up each other on youtube. If this in fact the case, then I don't think anyone will ever beat this video.
As grossed out as I was the first time I saw it, I actually want to see it again, much like one would want to get on a roller coaster after almost throwing up.
Enjoy!

STRIKE IS OVER
Strike is over.
Well, almost. Hahaha. Hopefully. Let me preface what about to say by saying that I don't work for Variety and if you've read this somewhere else, deal bitch. Anyways, the writers and the producers will meet on November 26 for talks. This is extremely significant because since the last meeting happened on the day the strike started. Hopefully the season can be salvaged. I mean, it's barely November and the last available The Office already aired! The tension is more palpable than during the Cuban Mission Crisis.

Random Thoughts
A few thoughts on stuff:
Yeap, the NBA is definitely much more competitive now than it's ever been. I just finish watching a November game between Spurs and the Rockets. Recently I felt that it's pointless to watch early season games because the playoffs render them insignificant. Considering how great these two teams are, it will be a great battle for their division, as tonight's game showed. In the East, the Celtics are now 8-0. Yeah, they haven't played anyone, and sort of don't until the New Year (that's right!), but it's still an impressive start. Their first true challenge comes this Sunday against the 6-2 Magic. I would watch it but it'll air against that other Boston team, the Patriots. By the by, in all the major sports, NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, Boston has not lost a game since early October!! Wow.
The Lost producers crossed the picket line. If this were any other show I would be somewhat upset for this traitorous act, but it's Lost! In other good news, the Late night talk shows are possibly coming back before the strike ends! Also, Ellen canceled her New York trip on Monday, wisely. About time that idiot did something right.
Two last things: Grey's Anatomy's ratings have stopped going down! In fact, it's gain 2 million over the past two weeks!! It is still down 6 million compare to a year ago, but at least the bleeding has stopped. With the start of another "event" the show's ratings should continue to go up! Lastly, last night's episode was among the show's worst. I've always looked past Shonda's obvious metaphors but last night was simply too much. By the way, what has happened to the strong, middle-age black woman I once aspired to be, Bailey? She had another breakdown last night, although last night was more unmerited than last week's somewhat understandable breakdown. Whatever
Have a great weekend Peepz,

Short Post
As I'm writing, I really don't have anything in mind. I just wish I had more time to do pointless stuff like this. Not too much because then I'd wish I have more to do. I don't know. Right now I wish I was really drunk at a bear bar, there was loud music, a light show, me in the middle, and to have bears drip water from water bottles. I've seen this on music videos and that sounds/looks great.
Ugh, seriously whatever.

A McFlurry of Good News!
In a sea of bad news, it's good to get a current of good news. Case in point, The Beatles will finally release their catalog on iTunes in 2008. I know, I know, you guys have probably read this somewhere else, but it is still great news. I have every single one of their songs (with the exception of one song from Hard Day's Night that I accidently deleted and can't get back) but this is still awesome. When I saw it, I thought, OK, I'll believe it when it actually happens. Considering that it was Paul who was saying this, it will happen.
The other thing is not really news but more of a fact. I'm glad that the NBA league is finally competitive again. I believe that the West is still superior than the East but the difference is not as wide as in previous years. I seriously believe that the Celtics might be moving up to the number one, but definitely at least number two team in the Spurs. For all those Spurs fans, yes, your team is clearly the best team not just in the NBA but in all sports. I mean, the Yankees spend far more money than the Spurs but haven't won a championship since 2000 while the Spurs have won 3 in that time period. I do believe if we have a Celtics v. Pistons, Spurs v. Suns Conference Finals and Spurs v. Celtics in the finals we will have the best basketball in a long time.
Alright, enough rambling.
Have a great rest of Free Lunch Wednesday!

Bring it on, bitch!
I hate to sound like Jack Lalanne, but I am loving right now exercising so much. In the past, what, two to three years, I've really let my self go. I would say that there is a correlation between that and my feelings of worthlessness/depression. I mean why respect yourself, when you are shapeless bag of crap?
Starting this school year, I made a concerted effort to lose all the extra lbs. I have. Exercising has not solved all my problems, but I do feel much better now that I am eating like an anorexic tween and not a man on perpetual death row. Just today I was feeling like shit and I was really tired. Once I got home, I had so much adrenaline, so much that I wanted to and did pummel the kitties. Hey, I needed to get rid of all the positive energy in me.
This has been a totally random/pointless blog, but I guess that'll happen when I feel obligated to post something daily even though I know all but one, possibly two (hello, Mr. Frank Sosa), are reading this.
Que puto,
--Luis A.

Kool Bekam Pix Below
Haha, I got you!
I swore not to post anything on the strike any more until there was something newsworthy. Well, considering that Lost's showrunner has made his opinion on the matter public, I think a blog is required:
Per TV Guide:
In a 1,095-word op-ed piece for the New York Times, Lost cocreator/head writer Damon Lindelof weighs in on the WGA strike and "the guild's desire for a portion of revenues derived from the Internet." Lost, for example, "has been streamed hundreds of millions of times [on ABC.com], yet the writers get 'nothing' from the sale of surrounding ad content. We're also a hit on iTunes. Again, we get nothing."
Lindelof warns, "If this strike lasts longer than three months, an entire season of television will end this December," and any new series won't arrive until 2009. He describes himself as "angry because I am accused of being greedy by studios that are being greedy. [My] greed is fair and reasonable.... The studios' greed, on the other hand, is hidden behind... claims that they make nothing on the Web, that the streaming and downloading of our shows is purely 'promotional.'"
So is there any hope for resolution and a return to how things were a week and a half ago? "Things have gotten ugly," Lindelof opines, "and the lines of communication have broken down completely.... Perhaps it's not too late, though, for both sides to rally around the one thing we still have in common: our mourning for the way things used to be."
If you read anything, read the middle paragraph where he says the outcome of a prolonged strike. Yeah! Three months is all it would take to wreck this season and half of the next. Considering how terrible the shows were doing ratings wise, this is not good for the business. Man, I was totally enjoying this season. Heck, I was enjoying Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and even CSI again. Then this. Whatever.
Ugh,

Random Thoughts
Here is a funny quote about TV's most underrated comedy, How I Met Your Mother, or HIMYM:
"Ted, how many times have I asked you to put the lid back on the peanut butter jar? It's this sort of inconsiderate, immature, jackassery that makes me feel like I'm living in the Real World house. And not the early years when they had jobs and social consciences. I'm talking about Hawaii and after!" Marshall to Ted on How I Met Your Mother.
Haha. I remember that I used to love Real World, but now it's just about people acting nasty to each other, getting drunk, and calling people the N-word. I mean, why watch people do this on TV when I do these three things on a daily basis?

Strike Over!! Well, almost...
Hey All!!
I don't mean to sound like Rosie O' Donnell on her blog after she bragged that she was getting a spin-off based on her character on Nip Tuck when she said on her blog, "I just want to say, it's happening! Get ready." Actually, you fat cow, they were kinda thinking about it but never seriously considered it.
Anyways, that's my roundabout way of saying that the strike is almost over! One of the heads of the WGA said that they are offering the studios an olive branch! It might be over by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.
By the way, I've been getting a lot of crap about this blog not being "immediate" enough. Well, the story broke out at 2:36 PST and it is now 2:52, it can't get any more immediate than that. I mean, as much I would want to, it's not as if I work at Variety.
Anyways, I hope things are quickly resolved because the more I think about not having a TV season, the more I get bummed out.
I had a feeling this would be a wonderful day!!
Have a great week,

B.O. Report
The biggest release this week is Lions for Lambs. So big, in fact, that the movie got a "worldwide release." Whatever. Get a grip! Nobody gives a shit about you, Tom Cruise, so just join your little buddy, L. Ron, and die!
Anyways, I am pretty sure this movie will make 13 million, much to the disappointment of Tom Cruise and the idiotic studio who decided to put out movies of this freak.

Hahahaha, I laugh at you!
Hello all!
Latest strike news...KIDDING. Nah, instead below is a somewhat amusing anecdote about my visit last Saturday to Pecs.
Last Saturday when I went to that bar, I forgot to bring something up. As I was watching the mouth-watering bears/daddies walk past me as if I didn't exist, this early 20s guy walks into the bar. He sits in one of the stools. I'm there looking around waiting to see what daddy I will be hitting on next, when 20 guy, let's call him Mark, waves at me. Naturally, since I'm no douche, I wave back. Then he calls me over. I walk over and say hello and say what up. I asked him if this was his first time at the bar (first and only question I seem to know to ask in this place). He said that this was in fact not his first time.
Here is the meat of the story:
He then asks me if I wanted a beer or something. OK, considering that this was not his first time in the bar, he obviously knew what type of bar it was. I didn't know how to react to this since I've always have started the conversation, much to the chagrin and the disgust of the bear/daddy.
I said, nah, I'm good.
He was upset at my response since he obviously wanted something. He then just stood up and left. Unknowingly, I behaved like a diva bear, which I hate. It was totally embarrasing. I'm not saying that I should sleep with all the men that offer me a drink, but I didn't mean to be an asshole.
So, Mark, if you are reading this, I am not an asshole. If I see you at the bar tomorrow, I'll definitely accept your drink!
By the way, I didn't know that I had made the transition from kool 20 something to a seemingly 40 year old bear!
Bollocks!

We're Number 2!
Even though the Eagles album was only sold at Wal-Mart, it manage to sell more albums than Britney! They sold an astonishing 711k, compared to Brit's still respectable 290k. Considering that her career appeared to be in the toilet, she must be thrilled with that number. This is her first non-number one debut, since her previous four had debuted at number one. However, she is still the ONLY woman to have her first five albums debut in the top five! In other seemingly late 90s news, Backstreet debuted at number 7 with a surprising 71k. It is surprising not because it's low but I'm surprise anyone is still interested in what I once called the future Beatles. Mea culpa.

Lost News
I know this is really lazy but, eh:
Per TV Guide:
"If the strike extends into the new year and beyond, there is a chance ABC may opt to delay Lost's new season until the fall. Or worse yet, February 2009. Another scenario has the network simply airing the eight episodes already in the can this February as originally planned — something Team Darlton would not be in favor of. Says Lost cocreator Carlton Cuse, "Damon [Lindelof] and my concern about running the [eight] episodes we will have made is that it will feel a little like reading half a Harry Potter novel, then having to put it down. There is a mini-cliff-hanger at the end of Episode 8, but it's like the end of an exciting book chapter; it's not the end of the novel. Damon and I didn't write [the ending of Episode 8] differently [with the looming strike in mind]. We wrote it to be the ending of Episode 8." In any case, he concedes that the decision to hold or air the episodes isn't ultimately theirs. "It's really [ABC honcho Steve MacPherson's] call," Cuse notes, adding, "No one was happy with the six-episode run last season."
Sigh,

Losing A Life Line
I lost my cell phone. There. I don't consider a cell phone to be absolutely necessary. Not at all. I continue to feel as I've always felt about cell phones: people abuse them and talk nonsense most of the time, and act obnoxiously. Yes, I've crossed that line sometimes since I gotten it, but nowhere near as much as other people.
Anyways
The only reason why I care about the cellphone is that I have some pictures there. I have pictures of a guy I find attractive, along with other old men I've taken a picture of in the streets. I consider everything that might happen--i.e. people putting them online, that guy finding out, me going to prison--and none of them are pleasant. Oh well. It is what it is what it is.
Sigh,

Above is proof of the writer's strike:
In case you are wondering, yeap, that's Tina Fey. I really hope this thing doesn't drag on for too long.
In other "news", does anybody else find Obama extremely fuckable. Man alive! I saw him on SNL this weekend and I knew he was attractive but not that attractive. Mind you, his looks is not the main reason why I will vote for him, but it's a reason. Kidding.

American Gangster
Considering its pedigree, American Gangster needed to do very little to be a well movie. Fear not, this is not a review. Haha. After seeing it, I was sure this was gonna (see, not a review) get the best picture Oscar. I am even more convinced of this by the huge box office opening weekend. It made 46 million!!! I am sure the movie, script, both its stars, Denzel Washington's mother in the film, and the director will get nominated.
In another news, there was a last chance that the strike might not happened if things were worked out today. Sigh. They weren't. It is totally happening. I am seriously sick over this.
Have a great week,

Balls Fanatic
I used to despise bars through most of my life. I don't particularly enjoy drinking and/or loud music and/or clickish people looking at me. Well, I must have been confusing dance clubs with bars because bars are something I can definitely live with. The atmosphere is generally mellow. The music is typically not that loud. In bars, also, people generally are laid back and are not there to be seen/criticize you harshly.
Today I went to a bar. I loved it. I went on Wednesday but it was more like people being into their costumes and stuff. This time, I got somewhere. I fooled a little bit with a guy. Had his stupid friend not been there, I'm pretty sure it would have gone all the way. Oh well. I really did have a good time tonight. I should probably do this (have fun) more often. It sure beats me sulking.

Quick Strike Update
Per Variety: "Then there's "Big Brother." Summer staple could easily return as soon as March -- maybe even with a long-rumored celebrity edition."
WOW. Things are seriously grim when CBS is thinking of scheduling this enjoyable summer mind candy during the regular season.

Writer's Block
(Please read: there is a lot of juicy stuff below.)
Ok, the strike will happen starting Monday 12:01 A.M. OK, what does this really mean?
Well:
Per TVGuide: Today I heard on their podcast something that came like a huge blow to my TV geek soul. I almost don't want to say for fear of making it more likely to happen. Ok, well there is a possibility that Lost and 24 will not air at all this season. Since these two shows are serialized shows, there would be absolutely no point in starting the season and then not be able to see it end by May because of the writer's strike.
Also, per TVGuide: "Heroes' second season may be coming to a close a lot sooner..(since) sources confirm that the show is going back and shooting an alternate ending to the Dec. 3 episode that, if used, would allow the episode to function as a season finale in the event of a strike.
Per Hollywood Reporter: "Late-night comedy shows such as NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and "Saturday Night Live" as well as Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" will go dark starting Monday as a result of the writers strike. Each of those writing-intensive programs, along with NBC's "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," are immediately going into repeats."

WGA Strike
By the time any one reads this, the final word would be out on a possible writer's strike. Why should any one care? Well, if you watch any single show you should care. Scripts are typically finalized two months before they are aired. Therefore, we won't notice the effects of the strike until about February, because most shows are taking December off anyways. However, if the strike is still happening then, get ready for Joe Millionaire IV, The Littlest Groom II: Man vs. Horse: The Final Race, and Dancing with the Stars.
NBC is already taking precautionary steps since they canceled Heroes: Origins. They figure they might not be able to get the scripts on time so why promote it.
We should definitely know what will happen more than likely tomorrow, but certainly by the end of the week.
Somebody hold me,
--Luis A.
