Sigh...

Lost is coming back next February in a new time slot, strike or no strike. It has eight episodes in the can, which I'll gladly take.

Here is a cool picture that made me miss the show even more:

And.....She's In!

In news that will surprise no one but will be pleasantly welcomed by all of her fans:

Read Madonna to Rock the Hall of Fame
071213madonna.jpg

"Material Madge" Madonna on Thursday morning was announced as an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as were John Mellencamp, The Ventures, Leonard Cohen and The Dave Clark Five. The five acts will get their due at a ceremony to be held March 10 in New York."

No real surprise there. I mean she's a music icon, and gaycon and dikon. She's not at the very top of music's Mount Rushmore, prominently featuring the Beatles, The Stones, James Brown, and Dylan, but she's definitely right below them. Awesome news. Couldn't happen to a better (?) person? Although, my enjoyment of this is definitely tempered by the inclusion of John "this-is-our-country" Mellencamp, and Dave Clark Five. Still, awesome news!

Have A Happy Thursday!

Gay Cowboy

I've always felt really ugly because I kinda am. Recently, though, it's been nice to hear that at least to some people I am not. I got more "action" this year than in most of my life. Most of the people with whom this happen are attractive and I'm surprise that they happen to think that I'm too, well at least not ugly. I joined a gay site where people send you "winks" and add you to their hot list. Not only have I received a lot of "winks" but I received a lot of compliments. I know, why am I writing about something personal here and not on my journal? Because this is my blog. Anyways, although I'm not into twinks, I got a "wink" and an email from this twink saying that he thought I was not unattractive (obviously, he did not say it this way but it's awkward saying what he said). Then we talked on the web cam. Here's a pic of him:

If you click on it you can see it much better. As I said, I know it's him because I saw him on the web cam. Nothing will happen, but when you were repeatedly told how ugly you were in high school, it's nice to hear that you might not be as ugly as you were led to believe.

I guess the film that appeared to be a great film, and looked a lot like A Simple Plan, but would ultimately get ignored is way better than I expected, and it looked great to me.

"For first time, AP critics agree on the year's best film: 'No Country for Old Men'

"THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Tue Dec 11, 2:36 PM ET

It's never happened in all the time we've been doing this: Associated Press reviewers David Germain and Christy Lemire agree on the year's best film."

Ladies, we've got our frontrunner! With all the prizes getting heaped on this movie, it would be surprising to not see it win the Oscar. What is truly surprising is not that is winning, because the first time I saw the preview I thought this looks fucking great, but instead because it looks like a non-flashy movie. Look back to the past winners of the last, say 7 years--going back to American Beauty. All of them are extremely flashy in someway. It's great to see a movie being so highly praised strictly because of great storytelling and not because of who's in it or what the special effects are.

Happy Free Lunch Wednesday!

Crap Blog

If my blog is a reflection of my life, then what a crappy life I must have. I've been to other blogs and they look so professional and actually comment on things that are worth talking about. I recently stumbled upon a blog called "Mex Files". This blog is about Mexican political, cultural and social issues. It is well written and informative. Mine? It's just a collection of jumbled up, incoherent thoughts I happen to have during the moment I'm writing it. I don't know, I don't want to make up New Year's resolution because I know I'll keep very few if any. However, starting in the New Year, this blog will actually be about something. I seem to be forgetting, though, that nobody cares about the blog.

Good Night,

Quick Hits

1 (4) Spurs 17-3 Only Pop could greet a start like this with caution and/or indifference like this: ''We've had bad starts in the past, we've had good starts in the past and neither one is indicative of whether we won a championship.''

Yeah, thanks, Pop. I mean they are not my Celtics, but come on!! 17-3, wow!

By the way, some numbers that will boggle the mind:
The Celtics won their 17th game in December 8. Their current record is 17-2. Last year they didn't get their 17th win until March. Their record? 17-42! Yes, they haven't played anyone and they are in the east, but that is a 40 game difference! Watch, Spurs, my mighty Celtics will take you down.

Speaking of great sports team, my Cowboys won the East yesterday. They are now 12-1. Yawn. My Cowboys will definitely meet the Patriots were they will get sweet revenge.

Go Celts, and Cowboys, of course!!

Thursday Night Live!

Everybody that knows me, knows that I love my Thursday night TV. Well, today might be the last all-new Thursday I get for a very long time. There are new episodes next week, but I have two exams on Friday. So this is it. I know I sound like a huge dork, but oh well. I like what I like what I like.

So, quite possibly, farewell Thursday (pending an early, and unexpected, conclusion to the strike, of course).

Short and sweet,

Some Country For Old Men

I still haven't seen it, but I'm sure the movie is fantastic. However, I feel that No Country For Old Men has no chance in hell of getting nominated for Best Picture. Well, it just won best picture from the national board of review. This certainly bodes well for its chances.

Crosses Fingers.

Happy Free Lunch Wednesday,

I Want My Life Back

Ah, how I miss those crazy weekends at Pecs. How I wish watching TV at any time I wanted. How I miss being able to go out for 2 hour walks. How I met your mother.

Now, like all the students in college, I am swamped in homework and am preparing for the final stretch of the school year. The good news is this will soon be over.

Oh yeah, weird Katherine Heigl photo:

(Definitely, man, the woman looks like a possessed alien,
willing to defend T.R. Knight at all cost.)

Actual Strike News

CBS just announced a midseason schedule. Networks, more than anyone else, would know how the strike is going. This is why it's discouraging to find out that Big Brother will be premiering in February. I guess since we are stuck with a strike schedule, at least I will have a show that I enjoy a lot. I wish I could watch it some other time, as in the summer, but oh well.

Whatever,

Balls Fanatic!

I haven't written an actual blog since Thursday, and even then I just copied and pasted a story from TVGuide.

Well, this asshole asked me if I could talk about anything else other than the strike. Yes, sports.

I've written zero sports blogs, with the exception of the Super bowl diary entry, but that wasn't really about the Super bowl, especially since I didn't even mentioned the actual game once.

Anyways, I will start with the good news. I didn't actually see any football games but I did see a lovely gesture from the Washington Redskins' defense. In case none of you know what I'm talking about, one of their players was violently killed last week. Well, he was a defensive player. As an acknowledgment to his loss, the Redskins only put 10 players on the field for the first defensive play, as opposed to the required 11. Yes, they got a penalty and the other team took advantage of this, but it was truly moving. What was great was that not even the coach knew the defensive players were going to do this.

Also great: The Vikings are now 6-6. If they win out, they will be in the playoffs. True, they will more than likely be eliminated in the first round, but I miss the years when they use to make the playoffs every year. Also true, they only have one great player and a bunch of mediocre to terrible players, but whatever. Go MINNESOTA Vikings!

Lastly, the Magic and the Celtics continue to dominate the East. These two teams are legitimate title contenders, even if they are on the East. I don't even care that the Magic beat the Lakers, especially because they suck.

One last thing: Duncan was injured today. I hope this is not serious since I want competitive basketball week in and out. I want to see Spurs-Celtics in the finals. I hope it's nothing serious.

Well, as I said, I had a lot of sports related things to talk about. People are probably wishing I went back to talking about the strike.

Have a great week,
--Luis A.

In case anyone has wondered what an unemployed, balding, pear-shaped Mexican is thinking, wonder no more...
